Man In 70s Taken To Hospital With Serious Injuries After Being Hit By Car In Carisbrooke

Emergency service crews were called to Carisbrooke in the early hours of this morning after a vehicle collided with a pedestrian.

The man, in his 70s, was taken to St Mary's Hospital after suffering serious injuries.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

"We were called out at 12.45am this morning (Sunday) by colleagues at Isle of Wight Ambulance Service following reports of a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Carisbrooke High Street.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, suffered serious but not life-threatening or life-changing injuries. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital where he remains.

"Road closures were put in place temporarily – but lifted just after 2am.

"No arrests have been made, but enquiries remain ongoing."
