Man Charged Following Incident On Roof Of St Mary's Hospital

A Isle of Wight man who allegedly threw tiles at police from the roof of St Mary's Hospital has been charged.

Mark Anthony Booth-Pain, Heath Close in Newport, has appeared at Southampton Magistrates' court today (Tuesday).

The 41-year-old has been charged with affray and 7 counts of criminal damage. 

As Isle of Wight Radio previously reported, police were called to Seven Acres at 6.17pm on Friday (2).

It's alleged that tiles were thrown from the roof towards people and vehicles in the car park.

A number of vehicles belonging to NHS staff and two police vehicles were damaged.

No-one was injured.

Mr Booth-Pain is next due to appear at Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court on July (7).
