A man has been arrested on suspicion of Grievious Bodily Harm (GBH) following an incident in Ryde which left one person needing hospital treatment.
Police were called to John Street shortly before 7.30pm last night (Monday).
It's understood a 35 year old man suffered lacerations to his head and was taken to St Mary's Hospital.
A 20 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and remains in police custody.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:
"We were called at 7.24pm yesterday (15 June) to reports of an assault on John Street, Ryde.
"On arrival, officers located a 35-year-old man with laceration injuries. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life threatening.
"A 20-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in custody at this time.
