Lifesaving Equipment Arrives In Totland

West Wight Men In Sheds have donated an automated external defibrillator (AED) to be installed in Totland.

The lifesaving bit of equipment is now available 24/7 in a cabinet outside the parish office on The Broadway in Totland.

West Wight Men In Sheds wanted to give something back to the local community that has supported them since forming in 2018.

Ian Wright, a trustee of the charity, said:

“We had a discussion over lockdown about giving something back to the local community. We were aware of the importance of the early
access to a defibrillator in a cardiac arrest, and realised that there was not one available 24/7 near our workshop.

"We then took the decision to purchase a Storage Cabinet and an AED from IOW Defibrillators a local charity that helps provide the lifesaving equipment."

There will be free training session on using the AED and how to perform CPR available in the coming weeks for all local residents.
