Loft Installation Scam Reported On Isle Of Wight

Islanders are being urged to remain wary of calls they receive to advise that the spray foam insulation at their property needs to be removed.

These will generally be rogue companies which have obtained your details from the previous company which has now gone bust.

They will arrange to carry out a survey and invariably find damp in the loft, perhaps using machinery to show you measurements that may or may not be true.

They will attempt to scaremonger people into agreeing to act quickly — often turning up the next day to carry out the work — not giving you time to consider your decision.

Do not engage with these companies — if you are at all concerned about your home's insulation, Trading Standards recommends contacting the Footprint Trust which should be able to advise you in the first instance.
