Large 'Unexploded Bomb' Dredged Near Ryde Pier

BREAKING: An 'unexploded bomb' is understood to have been found near Ryde Pier this morning (Friday) after being dredged.

Isle of Wight Radio has been told the unexploded item is located off Ryde.

Vessels are being told to keep away from the area.

The Royal Navy's Bomb Disposal team is understood to have been notified.

*The item discovered was a German SC500 bomb, dropped in World War Two.

There has been a controlled detonation by Royal Navy clearance divers (Southern Diving Unit 2) based at Portsmouth.
