Lanesend Primary Rolls Back The Years With Vintage Jubilee Celebration

Children at Lanesend Primary School in Cowes held a Platinum Jubilee celebration last Friday (May 27) in anticipation of the impending royal event.

The last day of term saw each year group arrive dressed in the attire of one of the decades of Queen Elizabeth’s reign, from the 1950s to current day.

The children made their own crowns to wear and flags to wave for a celebration picnic lunch, held outside.

The tables were dressed in red, white and blue with Union Flag tablecloths and napkins and there was a rendition of the National Anthem before everyone sat down to eat.

Later on, each year group recited ten facts about their chosen decade to the rest of the school, before each performing a song from that era.

The day finished with a cake sale and visit from the Plaza Ices ice cream van.
