Isle Of Wight Women To Compete In Virtual London Marathon Around The Island

Two Isle of Wight women are lacing up their trainers to take part in a virtual London Marathon today (Sunday).

Sara Coombes and Laura Holme are raising money for the Rob Hill Foundation.

The pair who are also sisters-in-law, will be making their way from Ventnor via Shanklin, Sandown, Brading, Newport and finishing in their hometown of Ryde.

With fewer than five weeks training they are hoping to get the support of Islanders.

The Rob Hill Foundation offer workshops and an invaluable service, helping people to become free from their addictions and mental health issues as well as helping with fears, phobias, anxieties and panic attacks.

Sara, who is the Isle of Wight leader, said:

“I became involved after attending the workshops myself, I’m able to give back and help others who find themselves in a similar situation to me.

"I’ve never walked or run this distance before but I’m really looking forward to doing the challenge and raising vital funds and awareness for this amazing foundation.

"We would love to raise £2,000 for this amazing cause so we can continue to run our free workshops."
