Isle Of Wight Vaccine Roll-Out: More Than 88,000 Islanders Receive First Dose

Less than 500 people received their first coronavirus vaccine on the Isle of Wight in the last week.

The fall in the number of people having their first dose on the Island is most likely down to the Government pausing the roll-out for some cohorts.

A need to provide second doses to those who had their first in January means appointments are limited throughout April.

NHS England figures show a total of 88,348 first jabs have now been handed out here.

In the week of April 4 to April 11, 498 first jabs were given at vaccination hubs across the Island.

Figures for the number of second doses given here are no longer published by NHS England due a merger between Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The Isle of Wight CCG has recently banded with Hampshire and Southampton, meaning numbers for all of the areas are now added together.

Out of the 1,439 eligible care home residents on the Isle of Wight, 1,319 have been given a first dose.

1,937 of the 2,458 care home staff eligible here have now had their first dose.

Isle of Wight Radio has asked the the newly-formed Hampshire, Southampton and Isle of Wight CCG to provide a breakdown of vaccine figures per regions.
