Isle Of Wight Travel Agent Up For National Award

An Isle of Wight travel agent has been shortlisted for a national award.

Emma Ram, Store Manager at Barrhead Travel in Newport, is a finalist in Travel Weekly's Agent Achievement Awards.

The awards celebrate excellence in the travel trade, and are deemed the highest honour in the industry.

Emma is up for ‘Leisure Manager of the Year' - and has been nominated due to her 'high levels if personal service'.

One example occurred over the 2020 lockdown period where a family were looking to discuss a cruise post-pandemic.

The families were not accustomed to technology, so Emma created a special moment for them to meet on a Zoom call. Through great effort and patience, Emma coordinated the virtual reunion, an emotional moment for each of them, having not seen each other’s face for months on end.

Emma said:

“The personal, human service of a travel agent is what makes the holiday magic so much more special. Particularly in current times where people need someone they can trust at the end of the phone or in their local high street store.

“The travel expert has never been more valued, and as we witness consumer confidence return, more and more people are turning to us to take full care of their travel plans. People have been dreaming of their ideal holiday trip for over a year, it’s so rewarding to bring these plans to life, taking all of the stress away from the situation so that all the customer has to do is relax and enjoy that holiday buzz!”

The awards ceremony will be held at London’s Park Plaza Westminster hotel on Thursday, September 16.
