Isle Of Wight Travel Agent Reopens As Holiday Bookings Soar

A surge in holiday bookings has led to an Isle of Wight travel firm to reopen its doors as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.

Barrhead Travel has opened its doors for the first time since last year, with the team welcoming back customers in person as Islanders rush to book their first post-pandemic getaway.

Over the last year, store manager, Emma Ram - and her experienced team - have been working remotely, tirelessly supporting customers impacted by COVID.

Emma, who runs the shop on Newport High Street, reported that with the vaccine roll-out and easing of lockdown, people were now feeling more confident about planning their dream holiday in the near future.

Emma said:

“We are delighted to be back in our store and open to the public, we cannot wait to see our regular customers face-to-face and to welcome new customers too.

"The support we have received from our community over the last year has been so heart-warming and we can’t wait to give our support back by helping plan the perfect getaway with complete peace of mind.

"Demand is high, particularly for summer 2022, people are planning exciting trips with family and friends to new bucket list destinations and old favourites. It’s all about reuniting to make memories and having something to look forward to – we all definitely deserve it!”

Destinations including Tenerife, Turkey, New York, Orlando and Dubai have been among the favourites.

Demand for summer 2022 remains the most popular booking season, but the Barrhead Travel team noted that bookings for this summer have increased over the last few weeks in tandem with lockdown restrictions easing.

Staycations and UK cruises have been proving popular for late spring bookings as families and friends plan to reunite for their first post-lockdown holiday.

For this summer and beyond, demand for foreign holidays has been rising as customer confidence booms following comments from Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, who confirmed that people can start thinking about booking summer holidays.

Emma added that customer safety and peace of mind remains the number one priority and that customers are increasingly turning to their local travel agencies for advice.

Earlier this year, Barrhead Travel launched their Stress-Free Guarantee which provides holidaymakers with assurances about financial protection, flexible booking options and safety abroad.
