Isle of Wight Students Dress to Donate For Food Bank

Island students have been busy collecting items for the Isle of Wight foodbank today (Friday).

Carisbrooke College, Medina College and The Island VI Form all held mufti days, with students wearing their own clothes in exchange for a foodbank donation.

A huge collection included tins of beans, shampoo, pasta, mince pies and much more besides, as the three faculties — part of The Isle of Wight Education Federation — looked to help those in need this festive season.

Matthew Parr-Burman, executive headteacher for the Isle of Wight Education Federation, said:

"I am immensely proud of our community today. Seeing the sheer amount of donations that have come in to our schools has been amazing. It took 3 minibus trips to deliver it all to the Food Bank!

"To be told by the Food Bank this was the largest donation they have received so far this Christmas is testament to the spirit of our community.

"We asked everyone to chip in a little bit so that collectively we could help the Island community. They have gone over and above with their generosity though."
