Isle Of Wight MP Bob Seely Not Among Tory No-Confidence Voters

Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely has confirmed he is not one of the Conservative MPs who have submitted a letter of no confidence in the Prime Minister.

Boris Johnson is under increasing pressure to resign after details emerged of Downing Street parties during lockdown.

The PM insisted 'no one told him' that one garden gathering in May 2020 was against the rules.

Around 12 letters of no confidence are said to have been handed in this morning. Sky News reports at least 20 more plan to submit letters of no confidence today (Wednesday).

Island MP Bob Seely has so far confirmed he has no plans to submit a letter.

Last week, Mr Seely said he was 'glad' the PM had said sorry for his breaches. At the time he said "people have a right to be concerned" but called talk of a so-called 'work event' at Downing Street a "noisy distraction".

One Conservative MP has decided to jump ship - Christian Wakeford is joining Labour. In a resignation letter, he attacked Boris Johnson for his leadership.

Speaking at Prime Minister's Questions, Boris Johnson refused to resign, despite pressure from the opposition.

Meanwhile, the Government has confirmed mandatory wearing of face coverings in England will end next week.

Mr Johnson said Plan B COVID measures will be allowed to expire on Thursday (27).
