Isle Of Wight MP Attends Freshwater Development Meeting For Camp Road

Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely

The Island's MP will be at a meeting concerning a new development in Freshwater tonight (Friday).

As previously reported, an outline application has been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council for 130 homes on Camp Road.

In 2013 plans were refused by the council and planning inspectorate after there was insufficient information in the documents.

Developers then approached the council in 2019 proposing 170 homes and it was suggested to the developers that they decrease the number of homes and alter the layout.

Vehicles would leave the site on Camp Road (pictured) with a pedestrian access point linking it to Victoria Road, where bus stops and the village centre could be reached.

Of the 130 homes now planned, 46 or 35 per cent of them will be affordable.

The remaining 84 will be market housing and although the final mix will be determined at a later date, the site will feature one and two-bed flats and two, three, and four-bed houses.

The meeting is at 7pm in Freshwater Parish Hall.

You can view the application, 21/01552/OUT, via the Isle of Wight Council’s planning portal.

Comments can be made until September 24.
