Isle Of Wight Healthcare Professionals Run For 24 Hours For Mountbatten

Healthcare professionals from GPs on the Isle of Wight have been running a mile every hour - over 24 hours as a charity challenge.

Spencer Fox, Alistair Drover, Haf Aladin, Patrick Legg, Roxanne Saunders and Dominic Breen-Turner are raising money for Mountbatten.

The team, which completed the challenge over the weekend, said they chose the Island charity because they work closely with them.

They said:

'It is a fantastic facility which despite the challenges of the recent pandemic has adapted to provide ongoing vital support for patients, friends and family. We are lucky to have it on our Island! Any support would be greatly appreciated.

'The nighttime runs were pretty tough for all with the tiredness and getting the legs going every hour.'

They started at 6am on Saturday and finished on Sunday morning.

Three of the runs took place on Yaverland beach in the afternoon and locals were said to be very generous.

Now, £2,500 has been raised for the Island's hospice.
