Isle Of Wight Floating Bridge Return Date Revealed

A return date has been revealed for the Isle of Wight's floating bridge.

The East Cowes to Cowes service has been out of action for more than a month. It was undergoing its five-yearly Government inspection.

The vessel returned to the Island, from Cornwall, last week, but smashed its windows as it tried to moor up in East Cowes.

It was due to return on April 22 but the Isle of Wight Council said it will now resume on Saturday, April 23, pending one final inspection.

A spokesperson said:

“The floating bridge will be returning to service on the morning of 23 April, which will be subject to the results of the final MCA inspection.

"In the meantime, a launch service will remain in place for cyclists and pedestrians.”
