Isle Of Wight E-Scooters Subject To New Out Of Zone Speed Limits

E-Scooters on the Isle of Wight will have their speed gradually reduced when leaving their operating zone.

Firm Beryl, which is running the trial on the Island, says it hopes the new out of zone flow technology will encourage responsible riding.

It comes as the company expands its services to Cowes and East Cowes. The scheme is already up and running in Newport and Ryde.

It launched last year, as Isle of Wight Radio first reported.

Beryl says it will use GPS technology to gradually slow the scooters to 3mph when they leave the Beryl scheme operating area.

Riders will receive a notification via the Beryl App where they can check the scheme parameters.

More information on Beryl’s out of zone area in the Isle of Wight, can be found on Beryl's website.
