Isle Of Wight Day: Volunteers During Coronavirus Pandemic Come For Free

Isle of Wight Day

Isle of Wight Day is happening this weekend (Saturday) and we are all invited to come and celebrate the joys of living on the Island.

It will be a day of thank yous at Carisbrooke Castle, to volunteers who have worked tirelessly during the pandemic.

On the day, between 10am and 12pm anyone who has volunteered during the coronavirus crisis can come along for FREE with their whole family.

Bouncy castles, games, local stalls and strawberries and cream are just some of the things on offer throughout the day for Island families.

Robin Courage is the Founder of the annual event, which couldn't go ahead last year because of COVID.

He told Isle of Wight Radio:

"I created Isle of Wight Day when I was High Sherriff five years ago - the Isle of Wight is so wonderful and we rarely come together as a whole community, so the idea is to come together and celebrate all that is wonderful on this Island.

"If you kept your bunting from two year's ago please put it out to support Isle of Wight Day."

The annual songs of praise concert also takes place at 4.30pm on Sunday at Cowes Enterprise College.

Two Isle of Wight choirs and the Isle of Wight Symphony Orchestra will be performing.

On Saturday for one pound, you can come along to the castle from 12pm- 6pm.

English Heritage has dropped their charges for Islanders on Saturday.
