Isle Of Wight Council Survey For Learning Disability And Autism Feedback Launched

The Isle of Wight Council and its partners are seeking the views of Islanders with autism and/or learning disabilities to help refresh local strategies.

The Isle of Wight Autism Partnership Board and the IW Learning Disability Partnership Group are aiming to help people be heard, safe, and feel confident as an active part of their community.

Local partners have been involved in co-producing a survey, including the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the council, People Matter IW, Healthwatch, Isle of Wight NHS Trust, and Autism Inclusion Matters.

The survey aims to find out about people’s experiences of services on the Island and what can be improved.

Cllr Karl Love, Cabinet member for adult social care, said:

“We really want to hear from Islanders with autism or learning disabilities, their families and supporters, to ensure inclusivity and that the steps we take are in line with our community’s needs and aspirations.

"The survey is anonymous and will be used to shape our Island strategy and priorities over the next few years."

The survey can be completed online, with copies also available from Island libraries or directly from County Hall. Support to complete the survey is also available via:

  • Those with a learning disability can contact People Matter IW on 685348 who will arrange a call back.
  • Autism Inclusion Matters is available via text or WhatsApp on 07498500607, by email at [email protected] or Facebook: @aimisleofwight.

The survey is open for feedback until 31 May 2022.
