Isle Of Wight Council Doubles Overnight Parking Charges

Changes to the overnight pay and display parking charge are being rolled out across the Island this month.

Over the next three weeks, the Isle of Wight Council will be updating signs and ticket machine software to accommodate changes which will see overnight parking charges adjusted until October 31.

The overnight charges will be £2 until that date but will revert to £1 from 1 November 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Motorists are advised to check the tariff board or ticket machine signage as these will be changed to indicate overnight charging has started.

It is estimated changes to on and off-street overnight parking charges will generate around £80,000 to help fund other essential council services.

The initial introduction of a night-time fee was introduced in 2019.

The council is reminding residents who live within 200 metres of a pay and display car park that they can purchase a discounted permit to park there for £198 per year — which equates to around £3.80 per week.
