Islanders Invited To Book Free Easter Activity Spaces For Children And Young People

Children and young people will once again be able to enjoy a varied programme of free activities during the upcoming Easter holidays.

From 9 April through to 24 April, organisations across the Island are coming together to offer activities for five to 16-year-olds as part of the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, which also guarantees a nutritious meal.

Free places are available for children and young people who receive benefits-related free school meals and on a paid-for basis as well.

Places are also available for children and young people on Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP), those open to social care, or with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

But with limited spaces for many of the activities, families should book soon to avoid disappointment.

Cllr Debbie Andre, Cabinet member for children's services, said:

"We want to enable children and young people to try new things and make new friends and we know it is a welcome support for many families during the school holidays.

"We know that families are facing — and will continue to face — increasing pressure and the dedication of organisations to supporting families in this way means such a lot to so many.”

The Easter programme has a fantastic range of activities on offer at venues right across the Island, including horse riding, water sports, circus skills, drama, arts and crafts and even an opportunity to write and record your own song!

Details of all the activities available and further information on how to book can be found online

The Easter (HAF) scheme is funded by the Department for Education and forms part of the council's connect4communities programme details of which can be found here.
