Island Sixth Form Confirms Coronavirus Case

The Island VI Form is the latest educational institution on the Island to confirm a case of coronavirus.

13 members of the school community will be self-isolating as a precaution.

The school will remain open.

It comes as Cowes Enterprise College sent some Year eight students home earlier after a case was confirmed there, as previously reported.

33 students at Binstead Primary and staff members are also self-isolating after positive tests.

An Isle of Wight Council spokesperson said:

'Executive Headteacher, Matthew Parr-Burman, has confirmed that a member of the Island 6th Form community has tested positive for Covid-19.

'Students, parents and staff have all been informed. The school has rigorously followed the advice of Public Health England, accessed through the Department for Education’s official advice service, and 13 members of the school community will be self-isolating as a precautionary measure, with a return date of Wednesday 18 November.

'The sixth form remains open for all other students, and stringent safety measures remain in place. For those students self-isolating, high quality education will continue to be provided remotely.'
