Island Roads Report More Than 200 Call-Outs During Storms

Island Roads say there were a total of 224 reported storm related highway issues from Friday morning to Monday morning — during Storm Eunice and the beginning of Storm Franklin.

They took 333 calls in total but some of these were duplicate reports or unrelated to the storms.

Of the incidents, 83 were related to trees/heavy branches that had come down and needed to be cleared from the highway.

As of now, the sites which are still shut are Watergate Lane due to a leaning tree and Manor Road footpath in Shanklin — which will likely stay shut until Wednesday due to the number of mature trees down — and Egypt Hill in Cowes where there is an issue with the hoarding on a construction site.

Island Roads says it will update this information when these sites reopen.
