Island Business Steps Forward To Voluntarily Clean Ryde Splash Park

An Isle of Wight business has made sure children will be able to make a splash in Ryde.

The splash park at Ryde Canoe Lake has been battered by rough weather in recent months. Noticing the state it was in, Newgents external cleaning stepped forward to clean it - for free.

The cleaning involved removing 30 black bags of weeds, moss, rubbish and sand of all which was collected by Harvey clearance and maintenance, also at no cost.

Dominic Gentlemen, from Newgents, said:

"While on site cleaning it, the owners of the Alamo in Ryde walked past and saw my team working on the splash park. The owners Sam and Dan went back to their restaurant and provided my whole team with lunch and drinks all paid for by them! It was real community spirit!"

With temperatures expected to be in the 20s this weekend, the whole splash park has been fully cleaned and is now ready for use.
