Hovertravel has launched a new, free scheme to promote Island businesses after the pandemic.

Working in partnership with them, Hovertravel will collaborate on social media campaigns to help raise awareness and promote the Hover Local offers to their customers.

There are three distinct categories within the HoverLocal guide on Hovertravel’s website: Eats & Treats, Retail Therapy & Icons & Sights.

Additionally, as Hovertravel’s frontline staff are often asked for their advice and guidance on a range of activities, the teams will be briefed on each HoverLocal business so they can direct passengers to specific options.

Customers looking to plan their day trip to Ryde can discover more about the local area and take advantage of exclusive deals and discounts.

Neil Chapman MD of Hovertravel, said:

“As restrictions are lifted, we are expecting to see tourists who will not have travelled for many months and some who may be first time visitors to the Island. Ryde has a great deal to offer in terms of retail and hospitality and we want to ensure our customers have a great experience both on and off the hovercraft.

"HoverLocal is a simple way to promote local business by giving our customers up-to-date information about some of the fantastic treats, hidden gems and award-winning local produce, all within walking distance of our terminals.”

Ryde mayor, Isle of Wight Councillor Michael Lilley, concluded:

“This is a great initiative from Hovertravel, offering the opportunity for local businesses to promote themselves to the much wider audience of Hovertravel customers.

"Hovertravel’s continued support for the local community is very welcome, especially at a time when the tourist economy is starting to return."
