Have Your Say On Library Service Budget Proposals

A  survey has been launched amidst plans to reduce opening hours at Lord Louis Library in Newport.

A council decision was made last February to reduce the library service budget, with a consultation now taking place to ask users their views.

The survey aims to canvas opinion regarding the reduction of services for the Newport library from six days a week to five, a move to put it in line with Ryde library opening hours.

Current staffing levels will remain through the new opening hours, which will see Lord Louis closed on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Cllr Jonathan Bacon, cabinet lead for environment, heritage and waste, said:

“This survey is very important in deciding the future of our library services. I would urge as many users as possible to respond to make sure we have your feedback on this proposal."

The consultation launches today (Monday) and will run until midnight on Friday February 11, 2022.

Surveys are available online and paper copies can be found at all Island libraries.
