Has Your Journey Been Affected? Southern Vectis Seeks Islander's Feedback

Southern Vectis Bus

Has your essential journey by bus been affected since social distancing rules came into force?

Island bus operator, Southern Vectis is asking Islanders to get in touch if they have been affected by on-board social distancing measures.

Key workers have been able to use the bus throughout the pandemic but recently Southern Vectis has increased its services across the Isle of Wight.

Richard Tyldsley, Southern Vectis general manager said:

“We have greatly increased our offering across the island, since the government’s decision to begin easing lockdown, and we are seeing higher numbers travelling with us,”

“Our customers will notice the social distancing measures we have introduced. These inevitably reduce our capacity, which means less people can use each bus.

“Southern Vectis drivers have a special ticketing counter, which tells them how many people are on-board at any one time - and this is fed back to our website, so people can see how busy each bus is.

“When a bus is at its new capacity level, we can’t accept any more passengers and the destination blind will show ‘bus full’. We are doing all we can to minimise any resulting disruption by running duplicate buses or increasing services still further where we can.

“In tandem with our ticketing counter, which tells us how busy a journey is at any given time, we are asking our customers to contact us if they themselves have had difficulty making a specific essential journey, due to the bus being full.

"Anyone who has experienced difficulties with essential travel can contact us via the form on our website which captures all the details we require. We are constantly monitoring our services, and this information will play a key role in helping us improve our offering still further over the coming weeks.  We doing our very best to minimise any disruption to our loyal customers.”
