Further Yellow Weather Warning Issued For Isle of Wight As High Winds Set To Continue

Freshwater Bay during Friday's high winds.

Strong winds across the Isle of Wight are expected to continue, with a yellow warning in place from midday today (Sunday) until at around 1pm tomorrow.

The Met Office says winds are likely to strengthen throughout today, as an increasingly squally band of rain moves southeastwards.

Gusts of 55-60 mph are expected widely around south and west facing coasts, but possibly also briefly inland.

There is a chance that a few exposed places could see gusts of up to 80 mph.

Strong gusts associated with blustery wintry showers will follow from the north.

These strong winds may hamper, or slow, ongoing recovery efforts in the wake of Storm Eunice.

Winds are expected to ease steadily from Monday late afternoon or evening.
