Former Royal Marines Walk For Five Hours To Honour The Dead

Sandown War Memorial

Former Royal Marines on the Isle of Wight have walked for five hours to honour those who have died.

As previously reported, the group gathered last Saturday at Parkhurst Military Cemetery to pay their respects to three former Royal Marines buried there.

They then walked or cycled ten miles to Sandown War Memorial in small groups, abiding by coronavirus restrictions.

The first ones arrived after around 3.5 hours and the last ones made it after 4.5 hours.

The team then laid remembrance crosses inscribed with the names of those who died at the site in Sandown.

The purpose of the event was also to raise awareness of the current Royal Marines charity event where they are attempting to circumnavigate the globe, as previously reported.
