Flood Alert: Wroxall Records 25mm Of Rain Overnight

Around 25mm of rain fell in Wroxall overnight, prompting a flood alert for the Eastern Yar.

The Environment Agency says the water level is high and rising following a period of heavy downpours.

Most of the rain fell in three hours, which is a large amount in a short period of time.

The Environment Agency said:

"From 11am this morning (Tuesday) the water level will become noticeably high at Alverstone, rising near to the top of the river bank. Some field flooding may occur at Langbridge. We do not expect access issues at Horringford. Property flooding is not expected. Later this evening (around 9pm) it is possible that minor impact flooding will occur at Golf Links Road."

The flood alert is expected to be removed by 11am tomorrow (Wednesday).

It is the second flood alert to be issued this morning, as Isle of Wight Radio previously reported.
