A flood alert is back in place after Ryde recorded more than half a month's rainfall in just four hours.

With water levels at Monktonmead Brook high and rising, a flood alert's in place for St Johns.

More intense downpours has resulted in nearly 30mm of rain falling. In the next hour, the Environment Agency says water will begin to flow across the railway tracks, upstream of St Johns Station.

A spokesperson for Floodline said:

"Surface water may already be causing impacts as drains become overloaded.

"Property flooding is not currently expected at this time but we will keep under review. Further thundery showers are still possible over the next 24 hours. Water levels will remain very high until at least 06:00."

Flooding is possible for Monktonmead Brook at St Johns Road, St John's Station and Park Road.
