Floating Bridge Out Of Service Over 'Prow Cable' Concerns

The Floating Bridge is out of service this weekend (April 10-11).

The Isle of Wight Council said it is a precaution due to concerns about a prow cable.

A temporary foot passenger launch is in place.

Engineers are due to inspect the vessel on Monday, when any repairs will be carried out.

A council spokesperson said:

“The Cowes Floating bridge is withdrawn from service this weekend (10th and 11th April) as a safety precaution due to concerns regarding a prow cable.

“A temporary launch service will operate until engineers have inspected the vessel on Monday and any repairs are carried out.

“The Isle of Wight Council apologise for any inconvenience.”
