Floating Bridge OFF For Isle Of Wight Festival And Weeks After

The Floating Bridge will NOT be running for the next four weeks.

The local authority pulled it from service on Thursday (26 August) after a fault was discovered on a main engine.

Four weeks of work to repair it will now start - but it could take longer.

A foot passenger launch will be in place instead.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council said:

'The floating bridge was taken out of service on Thursday 26 August after developing a fault.

'Unfortunately, further investigation by our specialist contractors has identified a serious fault with one of the main engines.

'Our aim is to return the vessel to service as swiftly and safely as possible and to that end we are advised that replacing the drive motor with a new unit presents the most cost and time-effective solution.

'The work is expected to take up to four weeks to complete.

'Progress on the repairs, and the expected return to service, will be closely monitored and any changes will be communicated in further service updates.'
