The Island's floating bridge has been taken out of service this afternoon (Sunday, June 27).

According to the Isle of Wight Council, it will stay closed at least Monday morning, when an inspection is due.

Officials said the reason was "a hydraulic oil leak on the south west ram of the floating bridge".

Staff confirmed that a launch service for foot passengers and cyclists was operating today.

They apologised for any inconvenience.
