Crews Called to Newport After Postman Alerts Fire Service

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service was called to Newport this afternoon (Wednesday).

Crews from Newport and Ryde were sent to Forest Road after a postman spotted smoke and heard a triggered alarm at a residential address.

The Ryde team was stood down before arriving at the location.

The incident was deemed the result of cooking being left on a stove.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire Service said:

"We were called to the address on Forest at 2.08pm today.

"A team from Newport ventilated the property before leaving."
