Emergency Crews Called To 'Plane With Difficulties' At Bembridge Airport

Emergency crews from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, along with the police have been in attendance at Bembridge Airport this morning (Friday).

Teams were called to reports of a plane experiencing difficulties off Bembridge, with fire crews from Sandown and Ryde attending.

The Coastguard helicopter also landed at the airport, and Bembridge RNLI lifeboat was launched. 

The incident was later found to have been a false alarm, and all involved were safe and well.

A HM Coastguard spokesperson said:

"At 8.03am this morning, HM Coastguard received a report of an incident off Bembridge, Isle of Wight. The Bembridge RNLI lifeboat was tasked as well as the HM Coastguard Search and Rescue Helicopter from Lee-on-Solent."
