An elderly woman has died after getting into trouble in the water off Seaview.
Hampshire Constabulary says it was called to an area of beach at Seagrove Bay, between St Helens and Seaview.
Officers were alerted at around 5pm on Monday (25).
A woman, aged in her 70s, who got into difficulties in the water, was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the efforts of paramedics.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
Her next of kin is aware.
