East Cowes Fly-Tipping: Council-Owned Half Of Road To Be Cleared

Half of an East Cowes road - targeted by fly-tippers - will be cleaned, according to the Isle of Wight Council.

But the other half of Saunders Way is not in council ownership nor control - and will therefore not be serviced.

Concerns were raised over high levels of fly-tipping on the road over the weekend.

While out on a walk, East Cowes Town Councillor, Cllr Cameron Palin, said he saw a bed frame, TV, clothes and a rug all dumped.

The council says the part of the road it manages, from the roundabout to the start of Kingstone Copse, will be cleaned by Island Roads' teams.

A spokesperson said:

“They will clear anything that is within this particular area within the next 48 hours.

"The waste team have also spoken to the landowners about the rest of the road to make them aware of the fly tips in the area."
