Driver Treated At Roadside After Car Rolls Onto Roof Near Hare And Hounds Pub

Emergency services were called to Downend last night (Saturday) after reports of a car on its roof.

Police and ambulance teams attended the scene, near to the Hare and Hounds pub at around 7.20pm.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:

"We were called out at 7.19pm yesterday (30) by colleagues at the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service following reports of a single-vehicle collision on Downend Road.

"A red Peugeot had rolled onto its roof outside the Hare and Hounds Pub. The road was closed for a short period while the vehicle was recovered.

"The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics."

Police began to manage the traffic after the ambulance had left the scene, with the road re-opened at around 9pm.
