EXCLUSIVE PICTURES: A door has been smashed and damage caused to Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club.
Police - including armed response units - were called to Golf Links Road in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
The front door to the clubhouse has been smashed, with glass scattered across the front steps and indoors.
A police cordon has been erected.
The damage is a blow to the club after it only recently reopened after months of being closed due to coronavirus restrictions.
Isle of Wight Radio has been told that a person was detained nearby by police.
A heavy police presence descended on Sandown last night.
A Hampshire Constabulary update is expected this morning.
