Dance Live Competition Success For Carisbrooke's Christ The King

On Saturday (February 5) Christ the King students, staff and volunteers from the school community travelled to the Dance LIVE competition 2022.

Led by a student committee, pupils worked tirelessly in creating a piece named Betrayal Beneath the Big Top.

Dance Live! sees young people compete with choreographed routines to the backdrop of a giant digital LED screen, showcasing a range of dance, performance and creative design skills and off-stage technical capability.

The Originality of the story earned the students their first award in the Concept category.

The students also earned second place in the heats and scooped the award for Best Journey Video, created by year 13 student Caitlin Elliot.

A spokesperson for Christ the King said:

"From the costumes to the make-up and the choreography to the concept, the piece was entirely student created and demonstrated their talents.

"We had the most amazing day and thank the Guildhall for putting this event together.

"The event provides an opportunity for creativity and expression and we can't wait for the next event in 2023 — well done to everyone involved!"
