Cowes' Former Police Station Set For Summer Redevelopment

Around eight years after its closure, Cowes' former police station is set to undergo a major redevelopment this summer.

Island firm Spinlock, which has been based in the town for more than four decades, has unveiled its next stage of plans to open a new site opposite its HQ.

It says it will convert the former Hampshire Constabulary building, on Birmingham Road, into a new Design, Sales and Marketing studio.

Meanwhile, with the business and the watersports market continuing to grow, Spinlock says it's growing its production facility in Cowes.

It hopes an extra 40% space, alongside its existing production facility, will allow the increasing factory team to source and hold more stock, and grow output.

CEO, Chris Hill, said:

“Spinlock has a strong record for investing across all areas of the business. This action will help us meet this significant growth in demand from these new markets such as watersports, fishing and commercial marine as well as with new countries.

"We have been searching for additional space for some time and are fortunate to secure this area adjacent to our existing production site.

"Over the course of the last 12 months, with a steady increase in our production staff and coupled with investment in new machinery and tools has allowed us to maintain good lead times, improve efficiency and where possible counter rising production costs.”
