Cowes Enterprise College Pupils Self-Isolating After Confirmed Coronavirus Case

A group of Cowes Enterprise College students are self-isolating after a member of staff tested positive for coronavirus.

The school has today (Saturday) confirmed that 12 pupils will be staying at home for a period 14 days.

All students, who need to self-isolate, have been contacted.

Headteacher Rachel Kitley confirmed that the staff member has not been school for several days.

A letter sent to parents reads:

“The school is safe to remain open to all students and teachers who have not been identified as potential contacts and all students other than those who have been contacted should continue to attend.

”By having robust processes in place we have been able to act immediately to identify those who need to self-isolate, and to keep that number as small as possible.

“For your awareness, the students identified that are accessing learning remotely are being asked to self-isolate for a 14-day period. If a student does not develop symptoms, they can return to school and their usual activities at the end of the 14 days, meaning they will return to the academy on Wednesday 25th November if they remain without symptoms. Other members of the household can continue normal activities provided the student does not develop symptoms within the 14 day self-isolation period, and you can find further guidance here for members of the household.

“However, if the student develops symptoms of COVID-19, they should remain at home for at least 10 days from the date when their symptoms appeared.”
