COVID Measures For Meetings Over Future Of Isle Of Wight Primary

Crucial meetings over the future of an Isle of Wight primary school will have a number of COVID-19 measures in place.

Two public consultation meetings are being held to discuss the under-threat Chillerton and Rookley Primary.

In light of the emergence of the Omicron COVID variant, the Isle of Wight Council has put stricter measures in place.

Following discussions with Public Health England, the council said it would be implementing the following measures:

  • Meeting at Godshill Primary School (2 December) will be restricted to a maximum capacity of 35 to allow for social distancing.
  • Meeting at Chillerton and Rookley Primary School (9 December) will be restricted to a maximum capacity of 21 to allow for social distancing.
  • All attendees are required to undertake an LFT test at home prior to attending and should not attend if they receive a positive test result. For more information on LFT testing, including how to obtain a test, visit: https://keeptheislandsafe.org testingforpeoplewithoutsymptoms/
  • Ventilation by opening windows and doors; recommending all those attending to wear appropriate clothing.
  • Face coverings to be worn unless exempt for medical reasons.
  • Provision for hand washing/and or sanitiser.

To secure a place at one of the two meetings, people should contact the relevant school who will reserve a place.

The council asks that people only book one place per household/organisation so to offer as many places as possible to all stakeholders.

Richard Vaughan, deputy head of strategic development, said:

"Following the two meetings, should we conclude that a third meeting is required we will endeavour to facilitate this at the earliest opportunity."
