COVID-19: Nearly 100,000 Islanders Double Jabbed

Around 83 per cent of Islanders eligible for a coronavirus vaccine have now been double jabbed.

Latest NHS England figures show 99,574 of the Island's 120,425 16 and over population have received both doses.

In the week to August 29, 1,178 Islanders were given a jab.

Data reveals 355 under 18s had their first dose in that period. It means 1,720 under 18s have now had at least one jab.

Meanwhile, 370 under 18s are now fully protected, having had both jabs.

Since the vaccine roll-out began, 107,831 people have had at least one dose.

When combining both first and second doses, 207,405 jabs have been handed out on the Isle of Wight.

Yesterday (Thursday) the Island saw 106 positive cases, taking the total since the start of the pandemic to 10,138.

The Isle of Wight's rolling rate, per 100,000 is 338.7. It remains below the UK average of 355.4.

The number of people in hospital with COVID-19 on the Isle of Wight has also risen, as Isle of Wight Radio previously reported.
