Cost Of Isle Of Wight Bus Fares Going Up, Says Southern Vectis

Islanders travelling by bus will soon have to pay more after Southern Vectis "reluctantly" increased some of its fares.

The firm says it follows - what it called - a "challenging two years" and it is not a decision it has "taken lightly".

The changes mean single adult ticket prices will go up by 10p or 20p.

Adult rover tickets will remain at £10 a day, but 'young adults' and children will have to pay 50p more. A group 24 hour rover will also cost an extra £1.

Child singles will rise to short hop £1.40, medium hop £1.90, long hop £2.40 and period passes and multi-trip bundles will also have increases.

A spokesperson for Southern Vectis said:

"We have carefully reviewed the cost of running our services, after a challenging two years, and have reluctantly increased some ticket prices.

"This is not a decision we have taken lightly. We have kept any prices rises to an absolute minimum."

The bus company says it is the first increase since November 2019.

Changes will come into force from Sunday (February 6).
