Coronavirus: Two Positive Tests Registered On Isle Of Wight

6,800 people have tested positive for COVID on the Isle of Wight since the start of the pandemic.

According to official figures, two more positive tests were registered today (Thursday).

Nationally, 22 more people have died with Covid-19, while 2,445 new cases have been identified.

Meanwhile, more than 14-million people in the UK have now had both their coronavirus jabs. Daily figures show other 46,000 people have had second doses.

Yesterday (Wednesday) there were three positive results, as previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio.

On Tuesday, another person died in a care home on the Isle of Wight, after testing positive for coronavirus. The Office for National Statistics (ONS) data shows the death came in the week to April 16.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 137 deaths in the community on the Island.

There are also major changes to community coronavirus testing for Islanders without symptoms.

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, from tomorrow (Friday), Isle of Wight Council sites are closing in Yarmouth, Cowes, Sandown and Ryde.
