Coronavirus: Three More Die In Isle Of Wight Care Homes

Three more people have died in care homes on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for coronavirus.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) has published its weekly data this morning (Tuesday).

Two of the deaths came in an Island residential home in the week ending March 5, while the other has been added to last year's figures.

Since the start of the pandemic, there have been a total of 129 deaths in the community here.

116 of those have come in care homes and nine at home.

There has also been one COVID-19 related death at the Island's hospice, one in a 'other communal setting' and two 'elsewhere' in the community.

In total, 277 people have now died on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for the illness. St Mary's Hospital has recorded 148 of those deaths.

Yesterday (Monday), the Isle of Wight's rolling case rate rose to the seventh lowest in the UK.
