Coronavirus: Tesco Follows Morrisons In Rationing Key Items

Supermarket chain Tesco has followed Morrisons in introducing limits on some key household items.

It comes days after its chief executive appealed for no "unnecessary" panic buying as coronavirus restrictions are tightened.

The UK's largest supermarket chain - which has stores in Ryde, Wootton, Lake and in Ventnor - has revealed limits on goods including flour, pasta, toilet roll and antibacterial wipes.

Yesterday (Thursday), rival Morrisons introduced similar measures, blaming evidence of stockpiling.

A spokesperson for Morrisons said:

"We are introducing a limit on a small number of key products, such as toilet roll and disinfectant. Our stock levels of these products are good but we want to ensure that they are available for everyone."

Morrisons has stores in Newport and Lake.

All the major supermarkets introduced temporary restrictions in March as the coronavirus pandemic gripped the nation.
