Coronavirus: Six More People Die On Isle Of Wight

The Isle of Wight has recorded a further six coronavirus deaths.

It takes the number of deaths this month (January) - linked to the illness - to 32.

New figures, released today (Monday), show one death on January 15, three on January 16 and two on January 17.

St Mary's Hospital has now recorded 88 COVID-19-related deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In total, 140 people have now died on the Isle of Wight after testing positive for the illness.

ONS data shows 48 deaths have occurred in care homes, three at home and one at the hospice on the Island.

A further 111 positive coronavirus tests were recorded on the Island yesterday (Sunday), as Isle of Wight Radio reported.

Last week, the Island's seven-day rolling rate had risen to the fourth highest in the country. 

However, with a rate of 895.1 per 100,000 population, that has since fallen to the sixteenth highest.

Today's case number have not yet been released.
